Conservation

The ship where in Theseus and the youth of Athens returned had thirty oars, and was preserved by the Athenians down to time. They took away the old planks as they decayed, putting in new and stronger timber in their place, so much that this ship became a standing example among the philosophers, for the logical question of things that grow; one side holding that the ship remained the same, and the other, contending that it was not the same.

Simplifying it, Do you have an object which is functionally of no use now, but you still don’t want to throw it…because there is ‘something’ that does not let you throw it.

As conservation architects we try understanding that ‘something’.

A building should function efficiently and also respect the continuum of its values. We also believe that efficient functioning for an old structure is as much of a requirement as is its conservation. The owners and users of an important structure/ place form a vital part of our conservation team.

Morning pages

What is morning pages?

Wake up and do three a4 pages of morning writing. Not less not more (to begin with).

There is no wrong way to do Morning Pages- they are not high art. They are not even “writing.” They are about anything and everything that crosses your mind– and they are for your eyes
only.

Do not over-think Morning Pages: just put three pages of anything on paper today.. and then again tomorrow.
