Reflection : Fabric of Slavery , December 23rd, Madras Literary Society
எங்களின் பயிற்சி முகாம்களின் இவருடத்தின் கடைசி பயிற்சி முகமாக அமைந்தது “அடிமைத்துணி” பற்றிய பயிற்சி முகாம். சென்னை DPI வளாகத்தில் அமைந்துள்ள Madras Literary Society யின் நூலகத்தில் நடைபெற்றது.
இந்நூலகத்தை பார்க்கையில் நமக்கு தோன்றும் ஒரே கேள்வி
‘எல்லாம் இருந்தும் எப்படி இவ்வுளவு அமைதியாக இருக்க முடிகிறது உன்னால்’
என்பது மட்டும் தான். அன்று வந்த பங்கேற்பாளர்களில் மனதளவில் மிகவும் இளமையான ரேணுகா பாட்டி அனைவரின் கவனத்தையும் ஈர்த்தார்.
சிவராஜ் அண்ணாவின் அறிமுக உரையுடன் தொடங்கியது அந்த நிகழ்வு. எங்கோ ஒரு குழந்தை நமக்காக சுமக்கும் கஷ்டத்தை நெகிழ்வுடன் பகிர்ந்த வேளையில் அந்த வலியை ஒரு நொடி நம்மாலும் உணர முடிந்தது. நமது பழக்க வழக்கங்கள் எங்கோ ஒரு மூலையில் பெரிய தாக்கத்தை ஏற்படுத்தும் என்பது குறித்து கலந்துரையாடல் தொடங்கியது. மிகச்சிறந்த சொல்லான ‘செயல்’ என்பதுணர்ந்து செயல்முறையில் நமது பயன்பாட்டு முறைப் பற்றி அறிய முற்பட்டோம். அவரவர் பகிர்ந்த கருத்துக்கள் மற்றவர்க்கு சிந்தனையை தூண்டுவதாகவே அமைந்தது. துணியைப் பற்றி பேசி முடித்தவுடன் தம் கைகளால் ஒரு துணிப்பை செய்ய முற்பட்டனர்.
நம்மை சுற்றி ஏதேனும் மாற்றம் விரும்புவோமாயின், நம் தினசரி செய்யும் சிறு சிறு வேலைகளில் பெரும் மாற்றம் கொண்டு வர நாம் முனைய வேண்டும்…..
இறுதியில் எதோ ஒரு சலனத்துடன் அங்கிருந்து கலைந்தனர். அனைவரும் இதை அடுத்த ‘தும்பியின்’ நாடக விழாவுக்கு ஆயுத்தமாகினர்.
Coming to the end of this year this was our last workshop on ‘MIRROR’ – workshop series on Conscious living. This was held in Madras Literary Society a beautiful library inside the DPI campus Chennai. When we look at this red building with its surrounding we question ourselves ‘how could a building be so calm which resonates the vibrations of thousands of volumes of books within it’. This place which could enlighten so many minds was the venue for the workshop which started with the introductory session of Sivaraj Anna. With the empathy he had for the small kids when he narrated the story of kids affected by cancer we could notice drops of tears in the eyes of few participants. Our habits creating an impact somewhere in the world was awful to hear. The impact created by Renuka’s statement on consumerism was influential. She was one of the participant who was the youngest (by Mind) among all.
With our hands on activity we initiated our discussion on habits, trigger and action. Participants interpreted their topics with the given examples and the discussion continued. We ended up with the exchange of various ideas on habits, its impact on one’s action and his surroundings. With the discussion on the production cycle of cloth we ended up stitching up a cloth bag on our own. With our last workshop for this year we winded up with lots of positive vibration from the place and the participants.
If we are desperate to change something around us, we need to focus on bringing small changes in big activities….
With this our session came to an end which gave way for the next promising event drama fest of ‘Thumbi’.

நவம்பர் 16 ஆம் தேதி 2017 நடைபெற்ற ‘Mirror ‘ – Workshop on Conscious Living அதன் தொடர்ச்சியாக செயல் முறை விளக்கம் விரும்பி மேல்கோட்டை சென்றடைந்தோம். ஒவ்வொரு முறையும் நடைபெறும் பயிற்சி முகாம்களைப் போல இல்லாமல் சற்றே வித்தியாசமான அனுபவமாக இருந்தது.
மைசூருக்கு அருகில் உள்ள ஒரு அழகான சிறு கிராமமே மேல்கோட்டை. பல விஷயங்களுக்காக புகழ் பெற்ற இந்த கிராமத்தில் நாம் தேடி வந்த விஷயம் வேறாக இருந்தது. ஜனபத சேவா மையத்தின் ஹோச ஜீவனதாரி என்னும் மையத்தில் காலடி எடுத்து வைத்த வேளையில் தாள லயத்துடன் நம் காதுகளில் இனிமையாக வந்து விழுந்தது தறியின் ஓசை. நம்முடன் வந்த அனைவரின் முகத்திலும் ஒரு புன்சிரிப்பு தவழ்ந்தது. அச்சிரிப்பு தறியின் ஓசை கேட்டா, அவ்வியற்கை சூழலைக் கண்டா, இல்லை அங்கு நிலவிய கால நிலைக் கண்டா என்று கண்டறிய முடியவில்லை. அக்கணத்தில் அவரவர் தங்கள் நினைவுகளை அவ்விடத்துடன் ஒவ்வோர் முறையில் இணைத்து மகிழ்ந்தனர்.
காலைச் சிற்றுண்டி முடித்து குடிலில் சென்று வட்டமாக அமர்ந்தவுடன் ஓர் அமைதி நிலவியது. பின்னர் சுமனஸ் அறிமுக உரையில் அம்மையம் உருவான நோக்கம் மற்றும் அதன் கொள்கை குறித்து விளக்கினார். ஆழ்ந்த மௌனத்திற்கு பின்னர் அவ்விடத்தின் சிறப்பை உணர முயன்றனர். பின்னர் கை ராட்டையை பயன்படுத்தும் முறையை சிவகுரு விளக்க அனைவரும் கவனித்து பின்னர் ராட்டையை இயக்க முற்பட்டனர். சிலருக்கு மெல்லிய நூலாகவும், சிலருக்கு தடினமானான கயிறாகவும் பஞ்சு உருமாறியது. இறுதியில் ராட்டை சுற்றுவதும் ஒரு வித தியான நிலையே என்று உணர்ந்த தருணம் அது.
சிவகுருவின் விளக்கத்துடன் பஞ்சு நூலாவதையும், நூலிலிருந்து சேலை உருவாகுவதையும் கண்டது தன்னிலை மறக்கும் அனுபவமாக இருந்தது. அத்தறியின் ஓசைக்கேற்ப பிரேம் நடத்திய ஜுகல்பந்தி நம்முள் சில ரசாயன மாற்றங்களை ஏற்படுத்தியது. அவருடன் சேர்ந்து அந்த நெசவுப்பெண்கள் பாடிய பாடல்கள், நம்மை ஒன்று சேர்க்க இசை ஒரு வலிமையான ஆயுதம் என்றுணர்த்தியது.
உடுத்தும் ஆடை பற்றிய ஒரு சிறிய விழிப்புணர்வு நம்முள் ஏதோ ஒரு மூலையில் உயிர் பெற்றதாக எண்ணி மாலையில் ஓய்வெடுக்க குடிலுக்கு சென்றனர்.
இந்த செய்முறை பயிற்சி முகமை முடித்தப் பின்னர் மேல்கோட்டின் அழகை அடுத்து வந்த இரவிலும் பகலிலும் ரசித்த அனுபவத்தை பங்கேற்பாளர்களின் வாய்வழிக் கேட்பதே கச்சிதமான கருத்தாக அமையும்……
‘மாற்றம் என்பது நம்முள் இருந்து தொடங்க வேண்டும் ‘ என்ற எண்ணம் இவ்விடத்தில் யாருக்காயினும் தோன்றுமாயின் அதில் ஆச்சரியம் ஏதும் இல்லை.
In continuation with the workshop ‘MIRROR’ – Conscious Living held on November 16th2017, we reached Melkote on 16th December 2017 morning. This was a planned refraction session which gives us an insight experience about the process discussed during our reflection session. With an expectation of an intense experience we reached Melkote.
Melkote is a beautiful small village near Mysore. Famous for its craft, Architecture, weaving, temple tanks, its topography etc. Our focus and anticipation was something beyond this. Feeling the chill breeze on our finger tips and all over our face we entered Janapada Seva Center’s Hosa Jeevanadari. The rhythmic sound of the handloom was mesmerizing. With a magic smile on our lips we went around the place filled our lungs with fresh oxygen, had mouthwatering breakfast, and finally settled down with our hand charkas in the central ‘kudil’. Recollecting various memories we observed silence to sensitize our ears to the floating music in and around.
With the introductory session by Sumanas participants were engaged in spinning which was definitely a challenging task. Sivaguru explained and guided with the Nitty – Gritty of the task. Realizing spinning was equivalent to meditation they were engaged with a kind of calmness. Some spun threads, while some spun ropes. In the process everyone agreed with lots of patience make a perfect thread which was highly challenging to attain. Sivaguru explained the cycle of cotton to cloth in the background of the loom. With a huge process and procedures involved in weaving, the place, people and relevant comments by Sivaguru gave us an enduring experience.
Music is a magic which melts everyone’s heart. Prem tried to create a magic by creating a tune in line with the rattling sound of the loom. With the voices of the ladies, rattling sound and Prem’s guitar a nice jugalbandhi was created. It was Prem, his music, and the ladies who made a blissful evening.
Once the workshop schedule was completed it was fun time when participants explored Melkote during that same night and the next day. With the temple tanks, hillocks, sunrise, temple ….the experience need to be shared by the participants for an enjoyable interpretation.
